Safe tracheal introducer
A new tracheal introducer which would allow improved first-time tracheal intubation.
This could benefit junior doctors and non-anaesthesia specialists, as well as experienced anaesthetists, particularly with difficult-to- intubate patients. The device will be a piece of equipment that allows better visualisation of the trachea and safer intubation. Its advantages are that it is small, easy to use, portable (fits on a theatre trolley), and allows display on a screen.
This project is at the early prototype stage. Based on initial drawings, a prototype was developed in collaboration with a local university. It was evaluated by anaesthetists and initial feedback has been positive. Following iterations of the prototype, we are now planning a clinician evaluation at a dedicated Simulation Centre.
We are looking for a partner to further develop and commercialise the device.
