Lindsay Georgopoulos PhD
CEO
Lindsay has managed a wide range of healthcare-related technology transfer projects since 2009, working across the NHS, academic and private sectors. Lindsay joined Medipex in July 2014 to support management of the pipeline of NHS innovation projects involving the identification and assessment of new innovations, exploring the IP landscape and market, securing IP protection and the development and management of project plans to successfully take new medical technologies to market in conjunction with commercial partners. In May 2021 Lindsay took over as CEO and now leads the Medipex team to support innovators from the NHS, University and Industry sectors to develop novel healthcare innovations with the ultimate aim of delivering patient benefit.
Stephen Taylor-Parker BA (Law)
Head of Business Development
Stephen trained as a lawyer but has spent most of his business career in the computer industry initially working with a UK hardware manufacturer and software systems developer. From that he created a vertical market software company providing specialist systems to the Legal and Insurance sectors. He has held board positions on both private and AIM listed companies. In 1998 Stephen joined the University of Leeds technology transfer unit tasked with the creation of a Multi Media division. Over the ensuing three years he lead the development, in collaboration with key academics and clinicians, of a number of successful medical software products addressing a variety of interventions including Pre-natal screening, Renal patient management, and a wide range of Mental Health applications. The Multi Media division was spun out from The University of Leeds in 2002 and under his guidance continued to expand providing development, marketing and sales of the medical software interventions working closely with academic and medical teams around the world. Stephen brings a wealth of practical experience in Intellectual Property management and Digital content and application exploitation in addition to his knowledge of creating and successfully managing start-up Companies.
Graeme Howling PhD
Head of Innovation
Graeme has worked in medtech innovation and development for over 20 years. Previously he worked in the EPSRC Medical Technologies Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC) based in the Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering at the University of Leeds. In the IKC, Graeme was responsible for identifying new technology opportunities and providing support in order to advance development and commercial investment readiness. He has developed and managed innovation funding calls to support academic technology translation and provided professional project management support for the projects funded. Prior to the IKC he worked for almost 10 years in a number of research and innovation roles at Smith & Nephew, an international medical devices company. Graeme has a PhD in cell biology and tissue engineering and has an excellent understanding of the medical device industry and its challenges, as well as a background in scientific project management and innovation management.
Agnes Crutchard-Balduz MA
Senior Market Intelligence Manager
Agnes is an experienced marketing intelligence and innovations manager. After completing a Master degree in Marketing Management, Agnes worked for an International Research and Project Development Group as Head of Research, providing competitive intelligence and identification of market opportunities for new environmental technologies. Agnes joined Medipex in 2010, where she has a varied role including leading market intelligence projects for the healthcare sector (industry, academia, NHS) to validate and de-risk projects by highlighting the healthcare needs and market opportunities. Agnes also manages innovations projects originating from the NHS. She has also gained experience, through collaboration, in the management of NHS innovations accelerator initiatives and regional business support programmes. Based on her experience, Agnes can provide valuable intelligence necessary for organizations to make important decisions on innovative projects, is able to manage a wide range of healthcare projects, to deal with a variety of customers and has gained a valuable understanding of the NHS sector.
Leanne Burgin PhD
Senior Innovation Manager
Leanne has over 20 years in the science, medical technology and engineering landscape. Previously she worked at the University of Manchester IP (UMIP) and had overall responsibility for the translation of strategic and high-value IP-based projects from across the university. Before this she worked for the EPSRC Medical Technologies Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC) based in the Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering at the University of Leeds. The IKC brought companies together with academics and clinicians to accelerate the commercial development of new medical technology products and services. Prior to this Leanne held commercial and scientific roles for 7 years at Smith and Nephew, a global leader in medical device development. She has also held several other corporate engineering roles. Leanne has a PhD in the area of secondary osteoarthritis from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at The University of Aberdeen. At Medipex Leanne will be involved in supporting NHS projects through the assessment, progression, and commercialisation of ideas, including market intelligence and IP protection strategies.
Agata Szuba PhD
Market Intelligence Officer
Agata is a biophysicist with experience in interdisciplinary research. She started her journey with translating innovative projects, when as a post-doc she managed a project to commercialise a medical device. It allowed her to gain valuable knowledge about entrepreneurship and understand how to make invention commercially viable. Subsequently she became a Technology Innovation Officer in Medical Technologies where she was involved in medtech projects at different stages of commercialisation. She was responsible for conducting patent landscape and market analysis and providing advice to relevant research and commercialisation teams. At Medipex, Agata focuses on analysing market intelligence and investigating patent landscape. She also leads on Medipex communications and marketing strategy.
Seonaid Thompson PhD
Market Intelligence Officer
Seonaid is a molecular biologist with experience in cancer biology and proteomics and a thirst for knowledge in all aspects of healthcare innovation.
At Durham University she studied Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, spending an industrial placement year at Cambridge Research Biochemicals where she custom made peptides and antibodies. During her final year laboratory project at Durham, she investigated hair follicle stem cells. Seonaid was awarded a Cancer Research UK Studentship to complete her PhD at The University of Liverpool, looking for biomarkers for the early detection of pancreatic cancer using a wide range of molecular and proteomic techniques and technologies. At the Leeds Cancer Research UK Centre, as a Senior Research Fellow in Clinical Proteomics, Seonaid spent time looking for biomarkers for renal cell carcinoma.
She now supports the Medipex team to deliver high quality work to clients with a focus on market intelligence and intellectual property advice.
Victor Tapia Olivares
Market Intelligence Officer
Victor has been instrumental in guiding the success of life sciences and med-tech ventures. As Market Intelligence Officer his expertise lies in leveraging market intelligence and health economic analysis to propel innovative solutions to the market.
In his career, Victor has successfully achieved a pre-seed grant for a biotech startup through compelling market research and a strategic business pitch. He has also led the development of a comprehensive market access strategy for medical devices, identifying key opportunities, competitors, and economic factors. Additionally, Victor has successfully supported an international licensing deal for oncology and biosimilar therapies.
Victor's ability to translate complex data into actionable insights empowers healthcare organisations to make informed decisions and drive positive patient outcomes. He is passionate about fostering innovation and collaborating with industry leaders to advance healthcare solutions.
Clare Steele-Childe
Finance and Office Manager
Clare has been with Medipex since March 2009 as a self-employed book-keeper/payroll administrator and as of November 2013, she joined Medipex as the Finance & Office Manager where she has a varied role. She is responsible for the company payroll, company pension payments, management of the company accounts on Sage, bank reconciliations and quarterly VAT returns and producing reports as necessary for the CEO. She attends quarterly finance sub-committee meetings, produces information for the quarterly management accounts and input into the production of the annual budget. These services are also provided as an outsourced service to other small businesses. Clare also manages Medipex e-commerce website. In addition, Clare provides office support with responsibility for HR issues, First Aid and is the Fire Safety Officer. She inputs into the annual ISO9001 audit and carries out general office administration duties. Clare also organises the annual Innovation Competition and other external meetings and conferences. Clare previously worked for a chartered accountancy firm in Leeds for 9 years where she gained considerable experience in working for SME clients.
Clare Lankester PhD
Medical Device Development Consultant
Clare has extensive experience working across the industrial, academic, and clinical interface to develop and exploit opportunities for the commercialisation of multi-disciplinary research. After completing a PhD in Biochemistry, Clare worked for a University spin out company for six years where she was responsible for leading the £multi-million technical and clinical development of innovative healthcare technologies. With over 10 years experience in healthcare technologies, she has worked on numerous collaborative projects and is confident in dealing with stakeholders at a senior and international level. Clare is APMP qualified (Association for Project Management, IPMA Level D Certification).
Peter Llywelyn Roberts
Market Access and Reimbursement Solutions Consultant
Peter has worked extensively across the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Sector in the UK for over 25 years, gaining a wealth of hands on experience from the sharp end in sales, to working across health economic policy teams. He set up Market Access & Reimbursement Solutions to deliver effective health economic and value-based propositions for a broad range of commercial and NHS clients and has worked extensively on programmes such as SBRI & NIHR supporting the development of economic data.
