Medipex patient safety project secures development funding
21 December 2018
Medipex assisted with the launch of a joint project between Leeds Teaching Hospitals and the University of Leeds* to develop a novel device designed to improve the safety of a common procedure for the delivery of regional anaesthesia, known as ‘RADS’.
This has resulted in an agreement with an the Innovation Development Company – Medovate Limited, to fund and manage the expansion of the prototyping and testing work, before gaining regulatory approval and taking the device to market. It is expected that once available to the NHS, the device will produce benefits for patients through a reduction in nerve damage and associated side-effects that can occur with the current regional anaesthesia procedure. It is also expected that the device will reduce the time that it takes to perform the procedure and give greater confidence to the anaesthetist.
