Medipex helps NHS Trust secure £1m grant funding
28 June 2018
A team of hospital researchers and industry partners have won a prestigious grant to develop a new device set to have a major impact on patient safety. Medipex assisted the team to design the project plan and write the grant application, and will provide support to the project in the areas of project management, intellectual property protection and commercialisation.
The funding has been awarded to a team from the Yorkshire Quality & Safety Research Group based at the Bradford Institute for Health Research and colleagues from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the Universities of Leeds and Bradford, plus project partners RoboScientific Ltd and Medipex Ltd. The award of just over £1 million, from the Medical Research Council, will enable the development and testing of the revolutionary piece of equipment – the NG-Sure™ – which will make naso-gastric (NG) tube placement, and so NG-tube feeding, safer for patients.
Angela Grange, Head of Nursing, Research and Innovation at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, said, “the device will offer a more efficient and accurate way to see if the tubes are correctly inserted and in the correct place.”
