Bringing new interactive and immersive entertainment to children’s hospital waiting rooms

The clinical need:

The project team has developed a new concept for interactive, immersive entertainment in children’s hospital waiting rooms, designed to reduce anxiety during waiting periods and before procedures.  

Project challenge:

The project team set out to assess the opportunities and challenges of implementing an innovative entertainment system in NHS children’s hospital waiting areas, alongside existing support provided by healthcare play specialists.

With funding from Innovate UK, the project team chose Medipex to undertake Market Intelligence to support their project.

How did Medipex help?

We reviewed the delivery of children’s play services in the NHS, including the use of digital play tools and entertainment systems in hospital settings to reduce anxiety. This included consideration of recent clinical guidance and current adoption by healthcare play specialists in children’s hospitals, enabling us to identify key drivers, challenges, and opportunities for Louby Lou Clown Doctor as an innovative entertainment system.  

Impact:

The information generated will be used to strengthen the company’s business case by articulating future market opportunities to secure funding for the development of a digital entertainment system for children’s hospital waiting areas. In addition, it will support the identification of collaborative opportunities with NHS clinical teams and existing commercial partners in this market.
