Doc Abode awarded best Workforce Innovation at HSJ Partnership Awards

DocAbode has been named best workforce innovation at the 2019 HSJ Partnership Awards at a ceremony this week held in Westminster, London.

The prestigious awards showcase the most effective partnerships between the private and third sector and the NHS - in collaborations that are making a substantial difference, delivering value for money and improving patients’ lives - through sector leading innovation and exceptional dedication to top quality service.

700 healthcare professionals from a range of industries including pharmaceutical, consultancy, recruitment, procurement, technology, legal, clinical and private providers were in attendance to celebrate and learn about the projects helping the NHS deliver better services.

Doc Abode is an innovative solution to support the NHS workforce of the future, transforming healthcare delivery to meet increasing demand and complex needs of patients.

In an easy-to-use app, it matches the skillset of the clinician to the reported symptoms of the patient and the proximity of the GP to the patient’s location from a database of on-call GPs. It uses algorithms and GPS location to ensure that an appropriate clinician can be with the patient within one hour of the call being received, by ‘pushing’ the request to the available on call GP’s via a mobile application, and the visit is assigned to the GP once accepted. The visit is monitored and the outcome reported back to the central hosting system.

The concept has been designed and developed by GP Dr Taz Aldawoud from Bradford, and commercialised in partnership with Medipex and HMA Healthcare Marketing Agency.

“We’re really honoured to be involved in this award-winning idea that avoids unnecessary A&E admissions. Providers are increasingly relying on locums when GP’s are not available for a shift, and this can lead to issues with visiting - many locums will refuse to visit - so Doc Abode can fulfil this as an overspill service.” said Stephen Taylor-Parker, Head of Business Development at Medipex.

The platform is now recruiting GPs and clinicians in the Leeds area. If you’d like to be one of the first to join the ground-breaking platform that safely connects you to NHS patient needs for out-of-hours home visits, register your interest at: https://docabode.com/clinicians/.
