Doc Abode recognised in Top Tech 20 Yorkshire awards

At the Mills & Reeve Top Tech Yorkshire awards in October 2018, Doc Abode (a Medipex client) were confirmed as one of the Top Tech 20 companies in Yorkshire recognising their Technological innovation, Leadership, Client Service, Growth & Financial Performance and Employee Engagement.

Doc Abode award winnersDoc Abode workforce software has been designed to improve Urgent and Primary Care Access, Resilience and Scale. Founded by Dr Taz Aldawoud, Doc Abode is a clinically led digital start-up which is matching clinician availability to patient needs for out of hours home visits by GP’s in real-time. Doc Abode supports NHS Healthcare providers to deliver more responsive, cost effective care by safely connecting and matching a multi-disciplinary clinical workforce to NHS patient needs, in real time, based on availability, proximity and expertise. Using sophisticated workforce planning and predictive analysis, combined with artificial intelligence, Doc Abode looks to enable the redesign of work and enhance productivity.

After securing funding from the Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Sciences Network’s (AHSN’s) Proof of Concept Funding in 2016, the company ran focus groups with more than 70 GPs. A pilot showed that the Doc Abode system was capable of attracting a ‘new’ workforce who were disengaged with traditional ways of working.

In March 2017, Leeds-based Doc Abode was awarded £100,000 from the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) Innovation Fund to develop a prototype version. This was trialed with West Yorkshire’s GP out-of-hours provider, Local Care Direct. The pilot was successful and Doc Abode secured a further £900,000 from SBRI for the development of a nationally scaleable Doc Abode system.

Over the next five years, Doc Abode intends to build a national profile as a leading provider of integrated digital solutions for the NHS. Medipex are providing continuing commercial business development and support services to Doc Abode during its start-up and commercialisation phase.
