NHS staff are proactive and pragmatic in developing breakthrough innovations to fulfil patient needs. But they need industry partners to work with them and take their ideas to market. Universities are another fertile source of innovative healthcare ideas and academic staff also need to work with companies which have the experience and knowledge to turn research into reality.

To ensure these innovations reach the staff, patients and service users of the NHS, we’re constantly on the lookout for companies interested in licensing and commercialising these innovations.

As law dictates that Intellectual Property associated with an innovation is owned by the employing organisation, Medipex provides the official route for out-licensing innovations from NHS organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber and East Midlands regions. Out-licensing a technology or device through an official route such as Medipex has benefits for both the licensee and the licensor, including devising a clear understanding of how the technology will be used as well as the risks associated with its development and use and how the finances of the deal will work.
