Medipex Hosts its First Intern!
The Medipex team were delighted to host a 3-month internship this summer. Sheffield University PhD student, Richard Louden, has been shadowing members of the team to understand how Medipex functions as a company and during his short stay he has made a valuable contribution to many of the projects we are working on across different Trusts and has got involved in other activities that have been ongoing during this period, such as with the Innovation Scout Network and the Medipex Innovation Awards. Here, Richard reflects on his time away from the laboratory.
“As a plant sciences student the world of medicine is somewhat away from my comfort area. Whilst I did have some interest in medicinal science previously, the internship has certainly peaked this. Over the last three months I have been given access to various projects allowing me to see first-hand just the kind of crucial innovative changes that are being put forward by NHS staff. Through working on a broad range of projects I have been able to see how intellectual property of all types can be protected in a number of different ways. It is this area that I have enjoyed the most, and was the main reason for me undertaking this internship with Medipex. The hands on experience I have gained during my time here will hopefully serve me will in my attempts to secure a career as a patent attorney once I finish my PhD next year!
'I would just like to take the opportunity to thank the entire team at Medipex for being such a welcoming, patient and enjoyable group to work with.'
We would like to wish Richard well with his future career aspirations and very much hope he stays in touch and that we can work with him again.
