Airedale hospital launches the Trauma and Resuscitation Team Skills (TaRTS) course at Bradford Teaching Trauma unit

On the 24th of January 2018, the Bradford Teaching Hospital Trauma Team participated in ground-breaking training delivered by the TaRTS team. Developed by Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, TaRTS is a new concept for the provision of training in the management of trauma patients for nurses, doctors and allied health professionals working in trauma units. Through its selection as a finalist for an Award at the BOA Congress 2017 in Liverpool on the 17-21st of September, E-NOF (Electronic Fractured Neck of Femur Pathway) was presented as 'Introduction of a paperless neck of femur pathway'. This was the opportunity to present the innovative system to the UK orthopaedics world and to launch it for wider adoption in the UK. Innovative NHS staff and their collaborators from the region’s universities, charities and SMEs have been celebrated at the twelfth annual Medipex Innovation Awards and Showcase. Innovators from around the region gathered at Cedar Court Hotel near Wakefield for a networking event and awards ceremony where five teams were crowned winners across different innovation categories: Medical Devices and Diagnostics, GP and Community Care, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Self-Management and Service Improvement. Bradford Bright Ideas – Winner announced

An innovative app to help patients better manage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been chosen as the winner of Bradford Bright Ideas. The myCOPD app, developed by My mHealth Ltd, is an online platform which aims to empower patients through teaching better inhaler technique and developing their skills to help prevent their condition getting worse. Cervical cancer diagnostic specialist Zilico, has today announced a number of operational changes designed to better align its operations. Going forward, Zilico's flagship product ZedScan™, which improves the speed and accuracy in diagnosing pre-cancerous conditions of the cervix, will be sold directly to hospitals in Great Britain (Wales, Scotland & England) rather than through a third party distributor. The device, which offers a more accurate diagnosis for women who are at risk of cervical cancer, is currently used in many hospitals across the globe as an adjunct to the current diagnostic process.
