NHS Procurement

The NHS is recognised internationally as a late adopter of innovative medical products and the first obstacle for suppliers is navigating the NHS Procurement Landscape.  Medipex has a significant understanding of how NHS procurement works and may be able to help companies understand the landscape and to identify potential entry points for their innovative products into the NHS.

Medipex has recently produced a report on NHS procurement, the result of 12 months of in-depth research, detailing the roles of each of the organisations in the English NHS procurement landscape and examining the criteria by which products are bought.  It also looks at the changing NHS structure, the policies of commissioning and payment by results (PbR) and reflects on how these are likely to affect innovation adoption.  A number of case studies also look at the ways in which innovative products can / have be taken up by the NHS.  Finally the report goes on to propose a route-map into the NHS for innovative products and suggests factors that should be considered early in the development phase to maximise the chances of uptake of a product.
